Jose "Pepe" Acevedo, 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Rush Copley Medical Center. Jose was born on August 14, 1969, in Juarez, Mexico to Jose Manuel and Celia Acevedo. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Aurora, IL. In 1987, Jose graduated from East Aurora High School. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Jose began playing as a child with Boys Baseball of Aurora, where his passion for the game was first sparked. His love for baseball continued into adulthood, leading him to play in the Spanish American League for the A's and Indians at a young age. For 28 years, he was a hardworking and respected employee at Amsted Industries (Burgess Norton). Beyond his career, he found fulfillment in coaching, spending 25 years shaping young athletes as a coach and board member for Boys Baseball of Aurora and the Aurora Starz. Beyond baseball, Jose was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather and mentor to many. Known for his kindness, sense of humor
