Marilyn Mae Christenson was born on August 23, 1937 to Lawrence and Mary (Wilson) Christenson in Aurora, Nebraska. Lawrence farmed, and so the family moved as opportunities to farm became available, moving first to Iowa, then to Hinckley, IL before settling in the Plano area. Marilyn attended Plano High School and, at the age of fifteen, worked after school at Lord's Drug Store in Plano. After high school, she worked at Northern Illinois Gas in Aurora. She married Robert Johns on December 30, 1956 at the Plano United Methodist Church, after which they moved to Virginia, while Bob was in the service. After the service, the couple moved to Lee Street in Plano.
They had two daughters, Lori and Stacy.
When the girls went to school, Marilyn went to work at Caywood and Associates in Plano. She was the friendly face of the front office of Caywood and Associates on Main Street, eager to greet and help customers. She later became the office manager and worked there until she retired in 2004. M
